Which Class is for Me?
Term 1 Class Descriptions:
Aerial Gymnastics
Aerial 1 - Beginner
This is the introductory/beginner level class for 7-17 year olds. In this class you will learn basic movements on the lyra, trapeze and silk.
Whether you are just starting your lyra journey, or still need to work on your basic techniques, this class will set you up in order for you to safely move into other levels.
Lyra and Trapeze - Most skills will be taught under the bar as well as inside the hoop.
Silk - You will learn how to do basic skills in a knotted silk and will be working on climbing the silk with safe practices.
Prerequisites to move into the intermediate class:
- You are able to get in and out of the apparatus safely and with good technique.
- You can climb a few feet up the silk and have strength to hold and lift your body weight.
- You can complete basic mounts, dismounts and skills according to skills across the introductory levels.
Aerial 2 - Intermediate
This is the intermediate level class. In this class you will learn more complex movements on the lyra, trapeze and silk that include holds, spins and drops.
Lyra and Trapeze - Skills will be a combination of underneath, in and above the apparatus which include shoulder balances, mastering meat hooks, and some rotation skills.
Silk - You will learn how to do skills and begin drops from a climb.
Prerequisites to move into the intermediate/advanced class:
- You are able to get in and out of the skills safely and with good technique (including consistent pointed toes, straight legs, thumbs under bar and clean transitions)
- You have confidence in your ability and work within your skill and strength capability
- You can complete basic mounts, dismounts and skills according skills across the intermediate levels
Aerial 3 - Intermediate/Advanced
This is the intermediate/advanced level class. In this class we will learn a greater range of complex movements on the lyra, trapeze and silk that include more frequent and dynamic rotations, drops and transitions.
Lyra and Trapeze - Skills will be sequenced together with excellent transitions and creativity. Within this level you will be working on rotations such as ball rolls and elbow rolls. The drops will include those from the top of the bar to the bottom bar of the lyra.
Silk - You will learn how to connect multiple skills and build endurance to create longer sequences of skills at a time.
Aerial Open - 16+
This is an open session for anyone 16+ who has done at least a beginner level of aerial before and can execute basic skills with strength and safety. In this class you will build up your strength and skills in a self-paced way.
This class includes stretching and conditioning run by the coach and then the opportunity to work on individualised goals across lyra, silk and trapeze at your own pace.
KinderGym
KinderGym is a 45 minute class, available to children aged 2-5 years and their parent/ caregiver.
This program aims to develop the whole child through social, emotional, cognitive and physical activities in a fun, safe and structured environment.
Classes provide a wide range of opportunities to help develop confidence, coordination, gross motor and fine motor skills, strength and socialisation skills as fundamental gymnastics movement patterns are introduced through play.
This is a child and parent/ caregiver participation program where you are actively involved in your child’s participation, sharing your child’s fun and achievement.
It is a perfect class to introduce your little one into the world of gymnastics as well as develop the building blocks for a healthy future in any sport.
Recreational Gymnastics
Recreational Gym classes are available to school aged children starting from 5 years. Classes focus on developing the fundamentals across a range of gymnastics skills, balance, strength, coordination, and flexibility in a fun and supportive environment.
Gymnasts will have the opportunity to train on various equipment such as vault, bars, beam, floor, double mini tramp, rope and rings and air track.
Classes are 1 hour. There are a range of sessions available over the week to suit each gymnast’s availability.
Women's Artistic Gymnastics (WAG)
Foundations (Level 1 and 2)
To be eligible for this program you will need to be assessed by our head coaches to ensure that this is the right class for you.
In this program, training is focused on the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) apparatus including Vault, Bars, Beam and Floor.
Gymnasts who show excelling performance and dedication beyond the recreational programs and are interested in working towards competitive gymnastics will be invited to this program. This class requires passion to pursue gymnastics in a fun and focused way both in terms of individual and team goals.
This class will work on foundational Gymnastics skills and those within the Level 1 and 2 Women's Artistic Gymnastics Australian Levels Program.
Levels Program (Levels 3-6)
To be eligible for this program you will need to be assessed by our head coaches to ensure that this is the right class for you.
In this program are Levels 3-6. Training is focused on the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) apparatus including Vault, Bars, Beam and Floor.
The program forms the compulsory levels of the WAG Australian Levels Program and requires a high level of discipline and focus. Each level will require an increased level of dedication, training duration, and intensity.
This competitive program will provide opportunities to participate in competition if gymnasts are deemed to be ready (competition events are often held outside of normal training hours including weekends and travel to locations outside of the area is to be expected).
It is expected that those enrolling in this class attend all sessions (Tuesday and Thursday) throughout the week to allow them to continue to reach their goals and strength required in these levels.
Depending on the level, there is potential to increase these training hours (5 hours) for levels 5-6 in the future.
Tumbling
Tumbling 1
In this class you will begin to build the foundations of tumbling, tramp, and acro skills in a fun and supportive environment. You will learn and begin to refine the basic skills of tumbling and acro across various apparatus such as the tumble track, double mini tramp, single mini tramp and the floor.
The main focus skills in this class are forward and backward rolls, cartwheels, light cartwheels, handstands and basic shapes required to progress your tumbling to the next level!
Tumbling 2
In this class you will further refine and progress skills of tumbling, tramp, and acro skills in a fun and supportive environment. You will continue to build upon your knowledge and connections of skills and acro from Tumbling 1.
The main focus skills in this class are light cartwheels, round offs, pop handstands and the basics around somersaults and backflips.
Tumbling 3
In this class you will be connecting skills together and will already be able to do front and back somersaults/handsprings.
The main aim of this class will be to sequence tumbling and mini tramp passes with flow and sometimes in synchronisation with others! Within this class you will also continue with the acro lifts and holds from previous Tumbling classes and will begin throws and dynamic acro skills.
